Since the 70’s people have been building garden pools designed to capture the feel of exotic holidays abroad. Bright turquoise water colours created by plastic pool liners or cheap mosaics have been the standard finishing method for these pools in order to achieve the feeling of paradise. However, when the overcast reality of British weather sets in, your ‘mediterranean retreat’ starts to look slightly less inviting and a little bit tired. Unfortunately, it’s taken us until fairly recently to accept that the tropical look doesn’t quite work in the home counties.
